This year, as we dutifully made our way to the various orchards to sample the ciders and antique apple varieties, we were pleased to discover that Snow Line Orchard has come out with a hard cider. As every adventurous cider-drinking kid knows, apple cider begins to ferment on its own when it's left out too long. (If you were like me, you hid a half empty gallon or two on the porch when you were younger... hoping to have your first taste of alcohol).
The story goes, that as the folks up at Snow Line Orchard were making their apple cider they would put a black dot on the cap of any jugs that started to ferment and set them aside for family enjoyment. After doing this for a few years, these apple farmers decided to work on perfecting their blend and start bottling it for purchase in their on-site store. Black Dot Hard Apple Cider is delicious the result.
Black Dot Hard Apple Cider:
Tasting notes: Refreshing and mild, not overly complex. In flavor, Black Dot is more akin to hard apple juice than a darker apple cider, but still very dry and worth trying.
